Lasting value for energy customers across WA

1 January 2009: Horizon Power is the latest energy utility company in Western Australia to choose Gentrack Velocity to support its retail billing and customer management activities.

Horizon Power, a fully vertically integrated energy corporation based in Karratha, Western Australia, provides electricity generation, procurement, distribution and retailing to customers in rural Western Australia. Following disaggregation from Western Power Corporation, State-Government owned Horizon Power required a new CIS and billing solution to support enhanced metering functionality and to provide greater system integration across its business units.

Following an extensive tender process, the latest version of Gentrack Velocity has been selected as the most comprehensive option to deliver an automated, customer-centric solution to streamline all billing, credit management and customer management activities at Horizon Power.

Craig Young, Horizon Power Project Manager, commented on the project: “Our company’s vision is to create lasting value for our customers throughout Western Australia – many of whom are quite isolated from main regional centres. Gentrack Velocity will enable us to engage further with our customers, and provide a superior service experience, wherever they may be.”

Gentrack Velocity is designed specifically to support the meter-to-cash revenue cycle for energy and water utility companies such as Horizon Power, and is now the preferred solution for billing and customer management in over 40 energy and water utilities across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

The first phase of the Horizon Power project is expected to go live in July 2009.
