Marlborough Lines Moves to Next Generation Billing Software from Gentrack

April 2012 – Gentrack is pleased to announce the successful deployment of its next generation network billing platform to Marlborough Lines, an electricity distribution business (EDB) based in Blenheim, New Zealand.

Gentrack Velocity for Networks is a leading solution for energy companies and is designed to streamline network billing, customer services and service order management. The deployment of Gentrack Velocity at Marlborough Lines marks the fourth successive network billing project for Gentrack having completed similar successful projects with Unison Networks, Eastland Energy and Westpower says Gentrack CEO James Docking.

“The new billing platform includes a variety of specialist capabilities for network companies built using modern technologies. We’re pleased to say we have no reliance on third party systems within Gentrack Velocity and Marlborough Lines can expect some real efficiency gains from the Wizard process management tools, web services integration and intuitive web based user interface.”

The completion of the project in the five month timeframe was made possible by a dedicated project team at Marlborough Lines as well as the application of Gentrack’s ADVANCE implementation methodology continued Docking. “We’ve combined a series of proven project activities and philosophies developed over 20 years. This approach includes an iterative configuration approach which minimises project risk and ensures the utility’s subject matter experts are engaged throughout the key stages of the project. It also ensures that regular milestones are achieved in the lead up to go live.”

Marlborough Lines was formed from Marlborough Electric following the Electricity Industry Reforms in 1998, and has provided electricity to the Marlborough region since 1923. Gentrack successfully deployed its utility billing software to the business in 1997 to support its transformation into a pure EDB under the electricity industry reforms.
