Innovative solar electricity retailer Go Energy selects cloud hosted Velocity billing system

Gentrack Group (NZX/ASX: GTK) a developer of specialist software for energy utilities, water companies and airports is pleased to welcome its newest utility customer, Go Energy, an energy efficiency and commercial solar specialist based in Sydney Australia.

The project to implement its Velocity billing software in the Amazon Cloud for Go Energy marks Gentrack’s continued success in the Australian energy sector and endorses the flexibility of itsimage specialist software that enables utilities to bundle a range of utility products and services including Solar PV. Go Energy is a leading innovator in commercial solar technologies, using Power Purchasing Agreements and energy efficiency tools to deliver power cost savings for its customers.

Gentrack Group Chief Executive Officer, James Docking, said the project is a strong strategic fit for the Gentrack business with energy retailers in Australia tapping into the expanding ‘green energy’ sector with distributed generation technologies designed to drive energy sustainability and cut electricity prices for end consumers.

“We are excited to kick off the project with Go Energy which includes implementation of a cloud hosted Velocity system configured to support Solar PV billing. Go Energy is an innovative energy retailer with particular focus on solutions that promote energy efficiency and savings for SME customers in Australia. Our goal is to ensure that the Velocity solution continues to support a myriad of utility products and services including those related to Power Purchase Agreements, Solar PV and energy management. Velocity provides a perfect fit to support Go Energy’s commercial solar solutions and innovative power pricing mechanisms.”

Go Energy enables its commercial customers to benefit from low cost power generated from commercial solar panels installed at the customer’s premise, with additional cost savings available for any extra electricity the customer may require over and above that provided by the solar technologies.

“Gentrack is well versed in Solar PV billing and pricing having worked with electricity retailers in Australia, New Zealand and the UK where similar business models and energy products are evolving. Used in conjunction with advanced metering, customer portals and mobile apps, distributed power generation based on ‘green’ technologies like Solar PV is certainly now a core component of the energy mix that can deliver real household and commercial power savings. We are excited to be part of this evolving market.”
