Westpower deploys latest network billing software from Gentrack

June 2011 – Gentrack, a leading provider of utility billing solutions, is pleased to announce the successful deployment of Gentrack Velocity to Westpower, an Electricity Distribution Business (EDB) headquartered in Greymouth, New Zealand.

Westpower, one of Gentrack’s longest serving customers, is enjoying a wide range of benefits from its new billing system. With modern, intuitive technology, the latest version of Gentrack Velocity delivers greater automation of tasks, efficiency gains, and faster training for users.

Rodger Griffiths, Westpower General Manager Assets and Engineering Services, is very pleased with the new system. “Westpower is very impressed with the functionality and seamless external integration offered by the new Gentrack Velocity product. It makes it so much easier to carry out our core tasks whilst providing a level of revenue assurance that successfully addresses one of our key commercial risks.”

Westpower is one of the first EDBs in New Zealand to implement Gentrack’s latest workflow Wizards and Data Explorer reporting technologies. These simple yet powerful tools enable a utility to collect data and build and configure reports as and when required. The ability to easily drill down on reporting data for additional detail and analysis can be achieved without the need for third party reporting applications.

Gentrack CEO James Docking is also pleased with the project and the continued success of the Gentrack Velocity product. “Westpower has used Gentrack solutions for over 20 years. It’s great to renew the partnership and have them up and running with a very modern system in such a short space of time. The flexibility of the product and our experienced project team ensured the system was delivered within the 3 month window. I look forward to continuing our partnership with Westpower for many years to come.”

Griffiths agreed: “We were extremely happy with the way the upgrade project was managed by Gentrack’s system integration staff, including the seemingly effortless migration of data from our previous Gentrack system. The project was successfully delivered to scope, on time and within budget.”

Westpower owns and operates the electricity distribution network for over 12,000 connections on the West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island. Westpower also owns and operates subsidiary ElectroNet Services, a transmission, distribution and electrical contracting business. Gentrack continues to experience a high level of demand for its specialist billing, CRM and Meter Data Management software with projects across New Zealand, Australia, the USA and the UK.
