Gentrack Goes to the Cloud with its Velocity Billing and CRM Software for Utilities

Gentrack Group Limited (NZX/ASX: GTK), a specialist provider of software for utilities and airports, announced today the latest release of its Gentrack Velocity solution, offering proven Cloud based billing and CRM solutions for energy and water utilities.

The release follows the success of Gentrack Velocity billing and CRM projects with utilities in the UK using both the Amazon EC2 Cloud and UKFast, a private Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) provider. Gentrack CEO James Docking said the Cloud has quickly become a delivery option considered by utilities looking for infrastructure savings and pay-as-you-go access to computing resource to support key meter-to-cash activities.Velocity Cloud Image

“Deployment into the Cloud has supported the growth of the Gentrack business in the UK where there are new energy start-ups and utilities who need the Velocity software to drive their customer growth but don’t necessarily have the IT expertise or capital budget to run an on-premise solution.”

Venturing into the Cloud extends the deployment options for the business, supporting a rapid implementation of the Velocity Billing and CRM system. It also enables the business to extend its hosting service offering for utilities, offering technical support services designed to maintain the Cloud infrastructure, service availability and resourcing requirements.

“We were one of the first utilities software vendors in New Zealand to successfully go to the Amazon Cloud, working with the GLOBUG team at Mighty River Power in 2009. As a result we have established a strong level of Cloud expertise, and subsequently implemented Velocity into the Amazon Cloud for Flow Energy in the UK, and into a privately hosted infrastructure for LoCO2 Energy, our newest energy customer in the UK. We are now able to offer energy and water utilities a range of deployment options including Cloud hosting backed by Gentrack’s technical infrastructure services, and Business Process as a Service where we take responsibility for the ongoing configuration and management of the system on behalf of customers.”

Headquartered in New Zealand, Gentrack retains its R&D centre in Auckland with specific focus on delivering the essential meter-to-cash capabilities for utilities in core growth markets. This includes consideration of the technical infrastructure and environment in which the product can be implemented to optimise the value to customers.
